The highlight of my week every week is reading the restaurant review every Thursday in the Peoria Journal Star. I have been reading it for as long as I can remember and I bet I missed out on a bunch of good ones while away at college for six year (?? six year?? sheesh!).
Since I’ve been living at home with a newspaper subscription, I look forward to reading it every week. I don’t know why, I have never been to any of the restaurants that they’ve reviewed nor do I even have plans to visit any, but it’s still my favorite part of the paper.
About two weeks ago, I got up bright and early to get the paper on Thursday morning around 5 a.m. so I could read the review. That’s a lie. I’m sure I rolled out of bed around 11. When I remembered it was Thursday, I flipped to the Cue section for the weekly review. I almost started reading the column where the review usually runs. Then I noticed a box at the top. There was no review that week. The restaurant that had been reviewed had closed since the reviewers had visited. Needless to say, I wrote an email to the PJS editor.
Needless to say, the editor of the PJS is my father who responded by telling me I need to do something with my life. Thanks, Mr. Editor. Maybe someday I’ll actually eat at one of the restaurants. Probably not, but maybe!
